| Premier Foods launches its 2nd Culinary Academies for Schools - Helping to Get Kids Engaged With School Meals Following the success of last year’s Premier Culinary Academies for Schools, Premier Foods is launching an Academies programme again in 2009. Aimed at secondary school cooks and unit managers, the relaxed and interactive one-day sessions are being enhanced this year to help drive income as well as create healthy and appealing meals. Commenting on the launch of the 2009 Academies programme, Laura Tufnell-Barrett, Marketing Controller, Sweet & Education, Premier Foods, said: “We are committed to continuing our support of the education sector.The Academies enable us to work closer with schools, providing hands-on advice and support through our dedicated team of education specialists. “Having listened to last year’s attendees and the education sector generally, we recognise that it’s becoming more and more important for catering teams to keep menus fresh and appealing to kids. So this year, we’re also including training on running a theme day giving helpful hints and tips to help market school meals to young adults - increasing income as well as making school meal occasions fun.” This year, Premier Foods is doubling the number of one-day sessions to 8 creating places for up to 160 delegates. Each session will be packed with lively demonstrations by Premier Foods team of home economists, and will include some practical sessions for all to get hands on experience. Attendees will be actively encouraged to ask questions, to make sure that everybody takes as much information and ideas away from the Academy as possible. Ultimately, attendees will be able to pass their learnings on to their teams and peers, and the sessions will include on the most effective ways to do this.
