| Stars, stripes and peanuts at IFE 09 Block N3551 The American Peanut Council will highlight the premium taste and quality of American peanuts at this year’s IFE. Visitors can learn about the versatility of peanuts and explore a host of products on stand. In retail snack products, and in foods using peanut ingredients such as butters, flours, oils, granules and more, the increasing popularity of American peanuts is linked not only to great taste, but to a growing recognition of their numerous health and application benefits many of which will be demonstrated at the show. Louise McKerchar, European Marketing Director, American Peanut Council, commented: “Nuts have been highlighted by Datamonitor in the top ten consumer packaged goods trends to watch in 2009.1 Hailed in this prestigious industry report as “nutritional powerhouses,” it is clear that their diversification in application and increasing inclusion in new product launches shows no signs of slowing down. Peanuts, in particular, are recognised for their fantastic cardiovascular health benefits2, as well as providing a source of healthy fats. But they will only succeed in the flourishing snacking market if they offer a satisfying, fresh “peanutty” taste that will make consumers choose them over other, less healthy, snacking options. American peanuts provide this distinctive fresh taste. Their use in spreads, cereal bars, bakery and confectionery, to name but a few, brings consistent high quality, proven nutritional advantages and a coveted natural tag to any product line benefitting manufacturers, retailers and consumers alike.” Representatives from the American Peanut Council will be available at the American Pavilion, block N3551, to demonstrate the profit making potential of peanuts and offer a peanutty taste of the American dream.
